Flood victims in 9 Bauchi LGs get free medical test

The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Muhammad Pate, through his Chigari Foundation, in collaboration with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), has offered free medical outreach to victims of flood disaster across nine local government areas of Bauchi State.

Speaking during the flag off of the outreach and distribution of relief materials to communities affected by floods at the weekend in the palaces of the emirs of Misau, Katagum LGA, the minister explained that the relief materials would be distributed to 250 households in the affected areas to cushion their hardship.

Pate requested for the nomination of two persons within the Misau Emirate Council that would work with officials of the Chigari Foundation in the distribution exercise to ensure that the materials reached the targeted persons, adding that the materials included 10,000 anti-malaria drugs, 40,000 test kits for malaria and 3,000 mosquito nets.

The minister further disclosed that NMA had offered to carry out free medical outreach to the communities affected by the flood as part of their own contribution.

Responding, the Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman, thanked the minister for the gesture and described him as a worthy son of Misau Emirate, adding that his immense contributions were for the development of not only Misau Emirate Council or Bauchi State but Nigeria at large.
