The victim, identified as Motunrayo John, was said to be playing in the rain and was using her legs to measure the depth of the flood when she fell and was swept away.

A witness said the victim was taken off balance and before help could reach her the flood swept her into the River Dada.

Confirming the incident, the DPO of Ikare-Akoko, SP Olatujoye Akinwande, said the matter was reported by the Principal of the school, Mrs Ajoke Asiwaju, and that a search and rescue operation had commenced.

The same River Dada has recorded similar incidents. It would be recalled that a student of the Adekunle Ajasin University Akoko (AAUA) was swept away less than three years ago and her body was not found.
