Flood sacks Lagos health care centre

Flood has sacked Igbogbo public health care centre, along Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road , Agbele in Igbogbo/ Bayeku Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, forcing staff and patients of the health centre to relocate.
A source in the health centre, who doesn’t want her name in print, informed our reporter that the flood was as a result of lack of good drainage network.
“Lack of drainage in Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road was the cause of the flood. We have relocated our patients  to the Millennium Development Goals ,MDGs, building behind this health centre,” the source said.
The source urged the state government to facilitate the construction of the road in order to forestall future occurrence.
A resident of the area, Mr Bola Oguleye, said the health centre will continue to be engulfed by flood unless the state government construct the road that lead to the health centre.
Ogunleye said, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road has been abandoned for over one year and this has caused a lot of hardship to the people of this area. Unless Ambode construct the road, the flood will continue to wreck havoc in this area. And if nothing is done, this health centre will soon become an history.
He added that many houses in the area have been overtaken by flood as a result of the dilapidated state of the road.
Contacted,  Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris said he was not aware of the state of the health centre, saying, “I will find out and talk to the Primary Health Care Board. Ministry of Health doesn’t deal with flood , so we will work with the Ministry of Environment to see what we can do.”
