A heavy rainfall has rendered hundreds of the people of Karnaya village homeless as flood washed away more than half of the houses.
Karnaya is a few kilometres away from Dutse, Jigawa State capital.

The flood which started around 6pm Saturday evening kept the entire village awake till Sunday evening, forcing villagers to seek refuge at the village school buildings.
The Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Yusuf Sani Babura, who confirmed the incident, said the entire village had been ravaged and they were working on providing shelter and food to the victims.
“It’s true; the entire village is now down. I am currently at the place with my men trying to get food and shelter for the victims,” he said.
