“Our company is deeply touched by the plight of these communities and has resolved to support the government with a donation of N100 million,” Ismail announced.

He said it was the hope of the firm that the gesture will help to alleviate the sufferings of the victims of the natural disaster.

The Managing Director of MESL, Engr. Lamu Audu said the flood disaster was immense and that the firm supported the victims in line with its corporate social responsibility.

“We have done flood markings as these communities are up and downstream of our dams and we put beacons to warn them of where they should go but because of the fertile nature of the soil, some moved into the flood plains,” Audu said.
