Flood: Kano rice farmers seeks FG’s intervention

The Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Kano chapter, has called on federal government to support farmers who were affected by the recent flood in the state.

Malam Hussaini Shu’aibu, the chapters’s treasurer, made the call during an assessment of affected rice farms in Wudil and Garko local government areas of the state.

“We have seen hectares of rice farmland being washed away by the flood, the scenario is very pathetic because some of these farmers have only few days to harvest their rice and now they have nothing after exhausting all their resources. RIFAN is pleading on behalf of these farmers for FG’s intervention as it did to farmers in Kebbi state,” he said.
