No fewer than 15 communities have reportedly been dislodged in Mokwa LGA of Niger State by a flood.
The Director General (DG) of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Garba Salihu, who disclosed this at the IDP camp in Kuta, Shiroro LGA, said the humanitarian situation in the state had been very challenging in recent times due to renewed attacks by bandits on communities in Shiroro, Munya, Wushishi and Mariga LGAs, and the recent flood disaster in Mokwa LG.

Salihu said, “Up to 15 out of the 25 LGAs have experienced one banditry attack or the other which has caused displacement of people to the Kuta IDP camp alone. We have 1,127 IDPs from 44 communities that were sacked by bandits.”
He noted that one life was recently lost in Kontagora LGA due to a windstorm, saying that a similar incident occurred in Mariga LGA.
