A bridge connecting over 50 communities in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State has collapsed following a heavy rainfall.
The Ipin River Bridge, which gave way under the intense downpour, has left residents stranded.
The locals are appealing for urgent government interventions.
According to eyewitnesses, the rain, which began on Friday, October 11, 2024, persisted through Saturday morning, caused the bridge to collapse.

“It is common knowledge that nobody can prevent rain from falling during its season, but this particular downpour was unprecedented. The bridge serves as a route to over 50 communities in Ibarapa East,” a resident of Eruwa said.
The affected communities are now calling on Hon. Kazeem Arogundade, Chairman of Ibarapa East Local Government, to expedite reconstruction efforts.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin who represents the constituency, was also urged to facilitate prompt action.
