Flood: 1,350 victims get Red Cross palliatives

The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has flagged off the distribution of relief materials worth N50 million to 1, 350 victims of the 2022 flood disaster in Kogi State.

Secretary General of the NRCS, Abubakar Ahmed Kende, who disclosed this yesterday during the flag-off at Budon in Lokoja Local Government Area, said the beneficiaries were drawn from three communities in Ibaji, Kogi and Lokoja local government areas.

Among items distributed to the beneficiaries are bags of rice, beans, garri and jerrycans of palm oil.

He said the items were donated by the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), adding that the exercise was done in conjunction with the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC), British Red Cross, Islamic Relief Worldwide, USAID, and UNICEF, among others.

Responding, the Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom, Mallam Mohammed Sanni, thanked the NRCS, IFRC, MOMAN and other donors for coming to assist his people, while urging them to keep up the good work.
