The Flamingoes (Women) defeated the Antelopes (Men) 3-2 to lift the trophy in a match staged to mark the third anniversary of NIRSAL Microfinance Bank.
The excited women overcame their male counterparts in the match played in Abuja at the weekend.
Speaking after the match, the captain of the Flamingoes, Joy Nkwo, said they showed the men how to get a job done.
“I told my team that ‘if we can do it at home, you can as well do it here’ and they didn’t disappoint me.
“Though it’s not by our power, God just helped us,” the head of the human resources unit of the bank said.
Abubakar Abdullahi Kure, the Managing Director of the bank, said: “Banking has a lot of stress, a lot of effort and energy.
“So, as a part of celebrating our third anniversary, we decided that everyone should have fun.”
He said the event helped the staff to know each other better and be physically and mentally fit which he added will help improve their productivity.
On his part, the Executive Director of the bank, Darlighton Lawson, said it was a good feeling to be out on the field after a long while.
He said the organisation may make the sporting event an annual one.
