Five of the Taraba State governorship aspirants on the All Progressives Congress platform have threatened to boycott the party’s primary election scheduled to hold on Friday.
The aspirants described the decision to hold the primary election as illegal.
The aspirants namely Yusuf Yusuf, Anthony Manzo, Saleh Mamam, David Kente and Danladi Kifasi also accused the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu of engaging in “unholy alliance” with the sacked governorship candidate of the APC in the state, Emmanuel Bwacha.
The Supreme Court nullified the nomination of Bwacha as the governorship candidate of the APC in the state last week.

In a judgement, a five-member panel of the court led by Kudirat Kekere-Ekun upheld the finding of the Federal High Court in Jalingo, Taraba State, that the APC did not conduct any valid governorship primary poll in the state.
The court gave the judgement in the case which begun with a suit lodged by David Kente, one of the governorship aspirants with whom Bwacha had jostled for the APC’s governorship ticket.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, the five aspirants, vowed not to be part of the APC National Working Committee “illegality”.
Speaking on behalf of the other aspirants, Senator Yusuf Abubakar-Yusuf said they were forced to convene the news conference to let the world know what was happening in Taraba APC and what the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Adamu and others were doing to destroy the party in Taraba State.
Sabo-Kente said: “This important press briefing, is imperative because it has to do with the flagrant disobedience to a Supreme Court judgment, and as we all know, it is the apex court of our land.
”For the purpose of refreshing our memories, the race to clinch the APC Gubernatorial ticket started in 2022 with seven aspirants who all obtained the party‘s expression of interest and nomination form.
”On the day of the primaries, while all aspirants and delegates had an unresolved meeting at Shield Hotel Jalingo, for security concerns, the Chairman of the committee, Mr Lawrence Onochukwu, was taken to the Police Headquarters in Jalingo for safety.
”While there, on seeing social media photos of fake direct primary election in some parts of the state, Onochukwu held a news conference that he never authorised any primary and that elections will hold the next day after sorting out all the issues.”
