Five die in Ogun road crash

A road crash involving a Primera Saloon car and a stationed Volvo truck on Sunday killed five people around Olorunsogo village along Kobape -Siun axis on Abeokuta – Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.

It was learnt that the commercial car marked KTU 875 DP, was conveying  passengers from Sagamu to Abeokuta, when the driver lost control of the wheels and rammed into the parked truck.

The occupants, three male and two females, reportedly died on the spot.

The Spokesperson of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the incident in a terse statement sent to our correspondent on Sunday in Abeokuta.

Akinbiyi who disclosed that the accident occurred around 1:37pm, attributed it to   speeding and loss of control on the part of the car’s driver.

“According to eyewitness the car marked KTU 875 DP lost control , somersaulted and rammed into stationary Volvo truck marked LAR 119 YD  parked off road from behind .

“The accident involves five persons,  three male and two females.

“We learnt the Primera saloon car is being used for commercial and it  was running a shuttle from Sagamu to Abeokuta. All the 5 casualties involved in the fatal accident were inside the car when the accident happened ,” he said.

Akinbiyi noted that the corpses of the dead had been deposited at the morgue of General Hospital,  Ijaye, Abeokuta .
