Five abductees still held by insurgents 6 months after

A source in Kareto town privy to the facts said Saturday that the youths were still with the insurgents.

Five youths including a woman allegedly abducted by insurgents in Borno State last year have yet to regain freedom.

The victims, who were on their way to Damasak, Mobbar Local Government Area, were reportedly seized by armed men near Kinnari town in September 2020.

The incident happened almost at the same time as five officials working with the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement were kidnapped by the insurgents along Monguno road.

The five officials who later appeared in a video pleading with the government to negotiate with their captors were freed in October last year.

A source in Kareto town privy to the facts said Saturday that the youths were still with the insurgents.
