The Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) has begun an audit of Federal government-funded projects across the states to ascertain value for money on the projects.

FRC said the move was to ensure transparency and accountability in the federal government’s financial management.

The FRC recently made a post-audit inspection tour to projects in Osun State to see firsthand the value of the money invested by the federal government.

In Ile-Ife, the team inspected the federal government’s projects in Obafemi Awolowo University, Opa dam, Booster station, reservoir and treatment plants, Ile-Ife water Dam, and Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex Cardiac Centre.

In Ilesa, the FRC team inspected the Wesley Guild Hospital Theatre Complex and the male and female surgical wards.

Mrs. Victoria Adiwu, the Team Lead for the South West Zone, told journalists that she was satisfied with the quantum of work done, but expressed disappointment at some projects.

“I will say that the project is 80 percent satisfactory with the feedback from the end-users, despite some little challenges,” she said.

“The project on construction of Ile-Ife Dam is yet to be completed due to some challenges like poor funding from inadequate budgetary provisions,” she said.

However, in Ilesa, the team lamented the low pace of work done and urged the project management to increase the work pace to cushion the effect of time.

While noting that the project ongoing was 48 percent completed, the Team Lead stated that it would continue to ensure that revenue-raising policies, resources allocation, and debt-management decisions are undertaken prudently and transparently.

“I want to say money was not the challenge because it was released to the contractors, but they have been able to overcome the little hiccups for the completion of these projects,” she concluded.
