The wife of Edo State Governor, Mrs Betsy Obaseki, said her office would assist Mrs Tina Okhiria to procure a prosthetic arm after her hand was amputated in Benin, Edo State.
Daily Trust on Sunday reports that the woman was shot on her hand by her husband following a domestic violence, leading to the amputation of her hand in Benin City.
Mrs Obaseki disclosed this when she visited the woman at the hospital where she is receiving treatment.
While explaining her stance against domestic abuse, she stressed the need for women to prioritise their safety and well being while being in marriage.

“Mrs Okhiria will receive assistance in obtaining a prosthetic arm to alleviate the loss she has suffered,” she said.
During the visit, the mother of the victim, told Mrs Obaseki that her daughter had left the abusive marriage on several occasions due to continous abuse but was swayed by appeals from her abusive husband due to her concern for their children.
Mrs Obaseki, who said no woman should endure such cruelty in marriage, urged victims of domestic violence to seek help and escape dangerous situations.
According to her, it is important to leave abusive marriages rather than die in it.
She assured that the abusive husband would face legal consequences for his actions, as the crime committed was against the state and could not be resolved through arbitration or appeals.
