The Chief Executive Officer of First Bank Nigeria Limited, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, has said that the bank spent over N56bn in settling the commission of First Monie Agents in the last four years.

He said this on Friday in Abuja at Africa Legislative, Legal and Good Governance Conference organized by African Leadership Organization.

According to him, First Bank is focused on programmes that will alleviate poverty as well as grow the Nigerian Economy.

“Over N56bn has been paid to agents as commission over the last four years. The money has a multiplier effect on rural communities,” Adedutan said.

He said that the First Monie initiative of First Bank has created over 500,000 direct and indirect jobs in Nigeria.

He said, “Over 35,000 of First Monie Agents are women, enabling us to drive gender inclusive growth within rural communities.

“Over 2 million individuals have been economically impacted via the jobs created through the First Monie Agent banking proposition.”

The First Bank CEO said that 50 percent of the First Monie Agents reside in the rural areas making it possible for the programme to contribute significantly to the development of the rural economy.

He said that the bank will continue to focus on the common good by driving inclusive economic growth as well as promoting the well-being of the Nigerian society.

He said, “First Monie Agent network covers 772 out of the 774 Local government Areas in Nigeria, making it easy to bring Financial services closer to the people.”
