Firm unveils app to bridge artisans, service provider gap

A technological firm has unveiled a mobile application that provides connectivity between artisans and service providers.

According to the firm’s CEO, Toheeb Sodiq, the app, known as ‘Jama Jama’, was derived from the Yoruba language, saying it offers business opportunities for artisans.

“The newly unveiled Jama Jama app promises to connect individuals and organisations to certified artisans through a secure online system,” he said.

During the unveiling, the firm’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Miss Abiola Sodiq, said the new app ensures an easy experience, allowing service providers and those seeking to hire skilled professionals at fair prices.

Sodiq, who explained how artisans, service providers and individuals could easily navigate the app, said all the artisans registered in the app are certified.

“Payment is made directly to Jama Jama and we charge only 5 per cent of money charged by the artisans. We pay back to the artisans as soon as there is confirmation that the job is done by the artisan and the job owner. We do this within 24 hours,” she said.

The Youth and Social Development Officer in Shomolu Local Council, Idowu Adewale, pointed out that the app is essentially designed for skilled artisans, stressing that, with the platform, the money charged is safe and the work as well.

“The platform has come to stay whether we like it or not. I advise the artisans to fashion out how they can make maximum use of the Jama Jama App,” he said.
