Briefing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, he said they are working according to the circular issued by the Bureau of Public Service Reform (BPSR) and the training would help allay the fear of retirement in the prospective retirees and also help them meet their needs after their retirement.
He said the circular directed that efforts should be put in place to ensure that members of staff who are due to retire in five years’ time should be accorded pre-retirement training on life after retirement.
He noted that the most important question that comes to mind as civil servants approach the end of their service period relates to how they will meet their needs after retirement, especially the issue food, clothing and shelter, adding that Festido Ventures Limited is moving round the country to train prospective retirees.
He said a seminar has been scheduled for 14-17th of this month for staff, heads of department and directors of National Veterinary Research Institutes, Vom-Jos, to prepare the minds of civil servants who are about to retire to face the reality and inevitability of change.
Dogo said the training would assist participants to manage their finances effectively, reveal the kind of challenges that would be awaiting them and to show them the kind of opportunities they can pursue.
