NERC Chairman, Dr. Sam Amadi, during the ceremony commended the company’s Group President, Jitendes Kumar Sachdeva, for the painstaking process he was subjected to in the course of the application for the coal-powered plant.
He said “I commend your patience and perseverance to follow through your application. Coal power plant is becoming important in the effort to diversify our fuel source. I hope you will follow through your timelines in constructing your power plant with the same dedication you displayed in the course of this application.”
The plant, located at Wajari Village along Dadinkowa Road, Yamaltu Local Government Area of Gombe State, will produce 500mw capacity of electricity while using coal-to-power.
The Commissioner, Legal Licensing and Enforcement, Dr Steven Andzenge, in his response to the commendation by the chairman, said, “This is a milestone in the sense that it is in line with NERC’s objective of diversifying our fuel source.”
In his response, Sachdeva described the exercise as most welcoming while commending the commission for its transparency and commitment in processing the application.
