Firm launches solar platform to empower Nigerian homes, industries

Power and energy solutions company, Groupower, has launched a solar energy platform designed to empower Nigerian homes and industries with accessible solar power.

Speaking at the launch in Abuja yesterday, Project Leader of Groupower, Yeshua Russel, said that the platform aims to leverage cutting-edge technology to streamline access to solar power, making renewable energy more inclusive and sustainable.

He said: “Our platform aggregates multiple stakeholders, ensuring customers can seamlessly access high-quality solar power. That’s why we created Groupower, the ‘Uber of solar power,’ to provide a sustainable solution for Nigerians.

“We have assembled a network of technical, installation, training, financial, and insurance partners to ensure Nigerians receive the correct solar power at the correct price. We aim to expand across Africa, leveraging technology and partnerships to make solar power accessible to all.”

The Executive Director, Technical Services, Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Umar Abdullahi, said: “I would like to thank Groupower for this initiative at this critical time where renewable energy, especially solar, is at the forefront of energy in Nigeria.

“We have about twenty million Nigerians with little or no access to electricity and at REA,our mandate to electrify the rural areas in Nigeria is a huge task ahead of us.That is why collaborations with organisations like Groupower can help us fulfill our mandate.”

Minister of Aviation, Festus Kayamo SAN, represented by Barr. Ibe Sunday, noted that the project aligns with the minister’s vision for renewable energy.

Daily Trust reports that the project is a partnership between Groupower, the Ministry of Education, Rural Electrification Agency (REA), and the World Bank.
