The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 25-year-old man, Abba Yakubu, who was trapped inside a new well while digging at Hotoron Mahauta in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
The spokesman of the service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, said the incident, which happened on Tuesday, was as a result of hot weather that caused the man to nearly suffocate as oxygen was limited in the hole.

Abdullahi said, “When our formation at Kafar Nassarawa received an emergency call at about 9am from one Abubakar Haruna, our men reached the area at 9:33 and found a well digger of about 25 years by name Abba Yakubu trapped inside a well.
“The incident was as a result of working in the hot weather and lack of oxygen which was suffocating him.” He said the victim was rescued and conveyed to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital.
He, therefore, urged the general public to be cautious of where they were working and ensure all safety measures in case of emergency.
