The Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Mr Rasak Fadipe, has said 1,054 fire outbreaks occurred in the state between January and October 2017.
He said properties worth N82.8 billion were saved by his team, while properties lost were worth about N10 billion.
He also said the service responded to 219 rescue operations that included people who jumped into wells on suicide mission, as well as accidents and building collapse.
He added that the service had been recording four to five fire incidents daily since October, and advised residents against storing fuel in houses.
“It is dangerous to store fuel both at home and in vehicles. There can be an explosion if a vehicle carrying fuel is hit by another,” he said.
