He said, “The fire has now dragged the PTA back to the drawing board. Prior to the incident, we have the intention of partitioning six classrooms into 12 classrooms. With this incident, we cannot continue with our plans.

“We have to extend our hands to the state and local governments because the expenditure is now beyond our power. Our hope is for government to come to rescue of the school as soon as possible so that our children can continue with their studies.”

Zainab Musa, a student at the school, appealed to the state government to come to their rescue by renovating the damaged structures, as according to her the fateful incident had stalled their studies.

“Following the unfortunate fire disaster, we cannot continue with our studies. Unless government renovates the affected structures, we will continue to remain at home,” she said.

Another student, Aisha Ibrahim alleged that the fire might have been caused by some hoodlums who used to converge on the school premises to smoke Indian hemp.

“I believe the fire was caused by the hoodlums because it was said to have started in the night when most people fell asleep. Government should come to our aid by reconstructing the structures,” she said.

When contacted, the police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi confirmed the incident, however, said there was no loss of life or injury during the fire outbreak.

Abdullahi said the fire was caused by an electrical spark from the school’s laboratory.
