An early morning fire on Wednesday razed down 10 shops at the Alayabiagba Market on Mobil Road, Boundary, Ajegunle, in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) which confirmed the incident, said its men curtailed the fire from causing further destruction.
In a statement, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the agency received a distress call about a fire outbreak and immediately activated its emergency response plan and that on arrival of the agency’s team at the scene, it was observed that 10 shops were engulfed by the fire.

He said information gathered revealed that the fire started from one of the shops after public power was restored.
He further said, “No loss of life or injury was recorded. However, the fire razed 10 shops and destroyed several goods. The fire was extinguished by the combined efforts of stakeholders and prevented from spreading to other shops and adjoining buildings.”
