A section of Sokoto central market where motorcycles are sold has been razed by fire.
It was learnt that the fire, which occurred around 6am on Monday, emanated from a dump site.
The chairman of Motorcycles Marketers Association, Garba Muhammad, told our reporter that the fire destroyed a number of motorcycles.
“We cannot quantify the number of motorcycles burnt down by the fire now because the fire is still raging.

“But many people lost their shops along with their motorcycles because they could not come in time as the fire started around 6am this morning.
“The men of the federal and state fire service are battling to put it out but I know it will take some time before they can quench it all,” he said.
He appealed to the state government to come to the aid of those who lost their property during the inferno.
Daily Trust reports that the market had witnessed fire outbreaks. In 2021 many shops were destroyed in the market by fire outbreak which were still being reconstructed.
