A fire incident has occurred at the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The fire which Daily Trust gathered started at 9pm on Saturday, burnt the second floor of a two-storey building housing soldiers of the rank of orporal and below and their families.

The public relations officer of the Depot, Captain Arigu Audu who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said there were no casualties as occupants of the affected quarters were able to evacuate the building on time.
While attributing the cause of fire to an electrical fault, he said investigation has commenced to ascertain the cause of the fire.
He added, “The fire incident happened on Saturday night at block 15 of the Corporal Below Quarters around 9pm. No life was lost. The combined team of Depot Nigerian Army, Nigerian Military School fire fighters and Kaduna state fire service Zaria branch were able to curtail the situation. Only the last floor of the building was damaged.”
Daily Trust reports that the depot is used by the army for the training of recruits.
