A market between Lagos and Ogun borders, Ajimula International Market, has been gutted by fire which destroyed goods and other property.
It was learnt that the fire broke out in the market located by Kara Bridge in Isheri Olofin, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, around 11.30 am on Thursday.
However, the fire was said to have been put out by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
The director of the Service, Adeseye Margaret, in a statement said the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the market, adding that no injury or death was recorded.

This is just as the fire service recorded 46 emergency cases on Christmas Day and Wednesday.
Margaret said, “A fire emergency call to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service at 11:53 hours, Thursday, to Ajimula International Market, by Kara Bridge, Isheri Olofin, Ogun State has been put out.
“The combating of the fire which commenced at 12:05 hours following the arrival of the first fire crew from Alausa before their Ikeja counterpart teamed up because of the magnitude of the fire, was eventually subdued.
“The market consists of makeshift structures of over an acre of land. The fire gutted consumables and non-consumables such as packages that include polythene bags, plastics, nylons and others like motorcycles.
“The Fire was however curtailed from spreading to adjoining structures without any injury or fatality recorded.
“Conversely, the outrage of Fire and related emergencies kept rising in spite of every preventive and proactive measure being device by the Agency as 22 emergencies were recorded yesterday, December 28 after 24 of same on Xmas day.”
Margaret warned people to be safety-conscious, especially during this harmattan, noting that while the weather does not cause fire, it makes it spread.
“Let’s be more cautious and sensitive to those things that may result in a fire outbreak,” she advised.
