A fire outbreak has gutted Opolo community secondary school in Ganmo, Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State.
The inferno, it was gathered, started from one of the classrooms (JSS3B) in the junior section and spread to the counsellor’s office destroying other properties in the process.
The police spokeswoman, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, told our correspondent on Thursday that one Danjumo Omotujde of Atere area, Gammo, who was alerted by a motorcycle rider, reported the incident.

“The complainant rushed to the scene along with his brother and a concerted effort of the community was complimented by the state fire service and the patrol team of Gammo to bring the situation under control.
“The value of loss cannot be ascertained as of now but no life was lost. However, investigation is still in progress as to what must have led to the inferno,” she said.
Ejire-Adeyemi however appealed to residents to be careful of the dry weather and stop stocking fuel in their houses as that could easily be ignited.
