It was learnt that the fire started when a fully loaded 33,000 litres Diesel tanker, with registration AKD 637 XP, trying to discharge fuel to the generator in the bank premises caught fire.
The tanker and a car stationed beside it, with registration number AKD 234 FA, were completely ravaged by fire.
It took the intervention of fire fighters of the state fire service, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and other responders to put the fire under control.
Other services from Eko Hotel, UBA Fire Service and Federal Fire Service joined in the efforts to arrest the fire and stop it from escalating to other buildings in the premises.
Director-General of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyitolu, who confirmed the incident, however said there was no loss of life recorded.
