Fire disaster: Nnewi traders receive N10m palliatives 10 months after

Traders in Nnewi Timber Market in Anambra state affected by a major fire incident, have been given with the sum of N10 million by the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

The palliative was coming after ten years the inferno razed down several shops and destroyed goods worth millions of naira.

Presenting the cheque to the leadership of the market at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Obiano explained that the money was to provide succour to the fire victims to assist them piece back their lives.

He revealed that his government has relocated its fire truck to Nnewi area as part of efforts to forestall a recurrence of such disaster, assuring the traders that the on-going construction of road leading to the market would soon be completed.

Responding, the chairman of the market, Chief Chukwunonso Nnetu, thanked the governor for coming to their rescue.
