A fire outbreak at a grain market in the Gombi area of Adamawa State has destroyed 1,900 bags of grain worth millions of naira.
The fire, which gutted 19 shops in the market on Thursday evening, was suspected to have been ignited by a burning cigarette thrown into the bush behind the shops by an unknown person.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, visited the palace of the district head of Gombi, Usman Ibrahim Sarkinfada, to sympathise with him and his subjects Saturday.
The governor prayed that such a disaster would not occur again in the future.
