Fintiri Urges Pilgrims to Be Law-Abiding and Pray for Nigeria

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged pilgrims to be law-abiding and pray for the peace and progress of Nigeria as they embark on their religious journey.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the National Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, Bishop Stephen Victor Adegbite Tunde, at the Government House in Yola, Governor Fintiri acknowledged that insecurity has long been a national issue, hindering efforts towards peace and development in the country.

The governor expressed his hopes that the pilgrims’ journey and prayers in the Holy Land would bring an end to the country’s years of suffering under attacks by criminal elements, and usher in a new chapter of peace and prosperity for the nation.

“It is our wish that the pilgrims will go and pray for Nigeria and Adamawa, so that we continue to see progress and unity. We hope that this year will mark an end to many of the challenges we’ve faced as a country, particularly insecurity,” Governor Fintiri said.

The governor noted that while the country has strong policies in place, Nigeria is currently facing difficult times, but he remains hopeful that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

Governor Fintiri also praised President Bola Tinubu for his support of both the Christian and Muslim Pilgrims Commissions, highlighting the president’s leadership as a father figure for the nation.

He urged the state’s pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Adamawa and urged them to remain law-abiding citizens during their journey, wishing them a safe trip to and from the Holy Land.

Earlier, Bishop Stephen Victor Adegbite Tunde commended both Governor Fintiri and President Tinubu for their support of Christian pilgrimage in Adamawa State and the country as a whole.

Referring to this year’s pilgrimage as the “Pilgrimage of Hope and Total Restoration,” Bishop Adegbite expressed optimism that the pilgrims would return safely, bringing with them hope for a more secure and prosperous future for the state and nation.

“To the glory of God, the third batch returned yesterday, and none are missing,” he said. “Adamawa and the neighboring states will also return safely.”

He acknowledged that without the support of Governor Fintiri and President Tinubu, the pilgrimage would have faced greater challenges, and he expressed sincere appreciation for their efforts in ensuring the success of the pilgrimage.
