The governor also highlighted the important role the legislature plays in shaping and deepening democracy and good governance in Nigeria.

He urged former speakers to continue to work together towards a better and more prosperous Nigeria, and to champion the cause of peaceful coexistence, democracy, and good governance in the country.

He also tasked them to mentor and guide new legislators and advocate policies and programmes that promote economic growth and development.

A former chairman of the Conference of Former Speakers of State Houses of Assembly of Nigeria (COFSSHA), Senator Simon Bako Lalong, urged his colleagues to be active participants in the democratic process and work towards building a better Nigeria for all.

Lalong called on the former speakers to lend their voices and expertise to the national discourse on issues affecting the country and to encourage and mentor younger politicians.
