The 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season will today kick off across the country after several postponements.
It will be recalled that the league was initially set to resume on the 6th of November, then rumored to begin on 11th November.
Again, it was said the league would resume on December 6 but the LMC came out to disassociate itself from this kickoff date as its spokesman, Harry Iwuala said the league organisers had at no time officially announced any resumption date for the new season.
According to the fixtures released by the LMC, Katsina United will host Heartland FC while Wikki Tourits take a tour to Nasarawa United.
Plateau United will play host to visiting Kwara United just as Akwa United will take on Dakkada FC.
It will be a star battle between Jigawa Golden Stars and Sunshine Stars in Jigawa while IfeanyiUbah FC will take on Lobi Stars at home.
Rivers United will welcome Enugu Rangers while Kano Pillars take a trip to Adamawa United.
Warri Wolves will look to devour MFM FC at the Agege Stadium while Abia Warriors battle Enyimba for the maximum points in Aba.
Meanwhile, the Technical adviser of Rangers International of Enugu, Coach Salisu Yusuf has assured the club’s teaming supporters of a winning start in the match Day 1 fixture of the season ahead of the trip to Port Harcourt.
“My immediate task is always to win and we have worked so hard and I believe we will have a good result there,” he said.
The chairman of Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Benue State, Mike Idoko said a trophy and continental ticket would be the target of the club at the commencement of the 2020/21 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
“We are ready for the start of the league come December 27. We have done all that is required as set out by the LMC.
Our stadium has been upgraded and our players and officials are ready for the league.”
This season, the LMC has proposed Prize monies for the top three finishing positions for the 2020/2021 season as N75m for the Winner, N50m for the first Runner Up and N35m for the Third paced team.
Other Clubs will also earn prize monies based on final position on the league table.
The LMC says other programs and branding strategies to increase the excitement value of the league will be unveiled in due course.
These includes, the return of bonuses to clubs for Away Wins, Away Draws, getting more than 5000 fans for home matches, featuring U-18 Youth Players, Stadium maintenance support etc.
