Fifth Chukkers, Abuja YBL share top laurels at 2022 African Patrons Cup

The 2022 African Patrons Cup international polo tournament came to a flourishing climax at the foremost Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club in Kaduna with Fifth Chukker and Abuja YBL teams leading others as top winners in the weeklong fiesta.

Polo Royals can authoritatively report that after a week of top flight polo games pitching teams from across the country, Fifth Chukker defeated debutants, Coronation teams and arch rivals, Malcomines teams, to finish tops as the curtain fell on tourney that support Breast Cancer Awareness Movement in Northern Nigeria.

Polo Royals also reports that while Malcomines team from Jos that had earlier drawn Coronation 7-7 third, their Patron Laushi was the biggest winner of the fiesta.  He captains Coronation selected team to victory against their First Bank opponents in the General Hassan Cup 20 goals extravaganza watched by capacity crowd that included the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello

“All the matches were tough because every team wanted this cup, but we were more ambitious and determined to win the General Hassan Cup, thanks to the determination of my teammates and our teeming supporters,” Laushi said after receiving the trophy from Gov.  Abubakar Bello.

The battle for the event’s second most wanted prize, the Pink Polo Saddle Cup that pitched five equally matched medium-goal teams, thrilled the crowd loaded with corporate giants, diplomats and thousands of enthusiasts from start to finish.

After five days of battle royale, it was Abuja YBL/Dokaji that won the recently concluded 2022 Kaduna Polo Tournament that maintained its winning runs, carting home the glittering the Pink Polo Saddle Cup on first attempt.
