The Northern Consensus Movement (NCM) said the majority of the northerners affected by Sasha Akinyele and the EndSARs crisis in the southern part of the country, particularly traders are yet to be compensated by the Federal Government months after the crisis.

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, the President Northern Consensus Movement, Dr Auwal Abdullahi Aliyu whose group led a no food supply protest to the Southern part of the country following the crisis, said most of the traders affected are still finding it difficult to remain in business after losing all their capitals in the crisis.

He said the destruction of properties owned by northerners in the South made NCM to call for the no food supply protest which lasted for three days.

According to him, during the no food protest, the presidency delegated Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State to plead with the group with a promise that whatever lost incurred by the northerners will be looked into and compensation will be considered.

Dr. Auwal said the modalities for the payment of compensation for those that lost lives, properties and means of their livelihood was discussed with the FG after they suspended the protest.

He explained further that the group demanded N47.5 billion which they assumed will take care of losses for all the  Northerners and that the government reduced it to a setting percentage which the body accepted but till now they are yet to fulfil their promise.

He urged the FG to consider the payment to those who lost their properties and livelihoods in the crisis as that will further build their confidence in the government.
