FG warns against vandalism of power installations

The federal government has tasked its citizens across the country to protect power installations in their domains  from  vandalism and other forms of sabotage.

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, disclosed this yesterday, after commissioning 60MVA, 132/33kV Transformer installed under phase 1 of the presidential power initiative (PPI), Okene Transmission Substation in Kogi State.

Adelabu said power installations across the country  are sacred economic assets, as such, remain the responsibility of every citizen to strive and  protect them from activities of some  vandals who are on the prowl in some states.

He said the commissioning of the Okene  substation power transformer is a pivotal moment in the journey towards a more electrified and prosperous Okene, and the country at large.

The minister said under the PPI, a wide range of projects will be implemented across the six geopolitical zones that will boost  power capacity  which  will increase industrial activities, create employment and  improve the standard of living of the citizens.

In his remarks, the implementing agency under PPI , the Managing Director, Federal Government of Nigeria Power Company(FGNPC) , Mr Kenny Anuwe,  stated that  the primary mandate of the organisation is to provide over  4,000 megawatts to boost the economic activities in the country.
