The federal government on Tuesday validated policy documents to support the Health Insurance Under One Roof (HIUOR) to achieve Nigeria’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, at the HIUOR documents validation meeting in Abuja, said HIUOR is a new document set to achieve the Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Represented by Dr. David Atuwo, the minister said the policy documents would help every Nigerian access health services at a low cost, and urged everyone to support and follow them to the letter.
The Executive Secretary, NHIS, Prof. Muhammed Sambo, said HIUOR was formed to expand coverage due to non-mandatory participation as provided in the extant NHIS law and the recognition of the need to cover the large informal sector to “leave no-one behind.”
