The federal government has been urged to create an enabling environment for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to thrive and facilitate trade export.
A Professor of Actuarial Science, University of Lagos, Tajudeen Yusuf, stated this on the heels of the country’s economic instability.

Yusuf, who led a research project titled: “The Implication and Impact on the Capacity of Institutional Constraint on the Capacity of SMEs in Nigeria”, sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), while presenting the outcome of his team, expressed concerns over the survival of SME businesses in the face of the country’s economy, urging the federal government to create policies that would ensure businesses thrived.
Also, the institution’s Director of Quality Assurance and SERVICOM, Prof Femi Shaibu, said the research team visited 13 states and the FCT to get empirical studies on the survival of SMEs in the country.
