The National President, Federal Government College Maiduguri Old Student’s Association (FEGOCOMOSA), Suleiman Mohammed Dikwa, has appealed to the Minister of Education, Mal. Adamu Adamu, to investigate the budgetary allocation and execution of projects in the school from January 2015 to December 2019.
Dikwa made the call during the FEGOCOMOSA 32nd Annual General Conference held in Jos, the Plateau State capital, recently.
He urged the minister to grant a special status to the school to encourage them as well as the brave students who have endured the insecurity in the state over the years.
He also pleaded with the members who have access to policy and decision makers in both public, private and development sectors to intervene in their various capacities toward the development of their alma mater.
On their membership, he said technology is crucial for the development of any organisation and that they have set up a payment platform to enable members of the congress to pay their annual dues and register their details online.
“Members in diaspora have also increased their participation via the online platform. We intend to develop further, the interactive capacity of the platform to increase interaction between members,” he said.
According to him, the association registered the FEGOCOMOSA investment cooperative and has carried out extensive consultations and developed corporate governance structures as well invested in safe assets.
He also noted that in response to the needs of the members, they have set up a welfare committee to handle that, adding that based on the recommendation of the committee, they have opened a welfare account and have also come up with a suitable medical insurance package for their members.
