The federal government has unveiled 76 housing units in Kano as part of President Buhari’s development agenda of addressing housing needs in Nigeria.
The National Housing Programme (NHP), phase I in Kano State, saw the construction of 76 housing units, road infrastructure, water provision and electricity connection at Gama-Gwari, off, Jaba-Fanisau road in Fagge Local Government Area.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, represented by the director of building, Solomon Labafilo, said the products delivered were of acceptable standard.
“We have offered all these housing units to members of the general public in a non-discriminatory way by opening the National Housing Portal at https://nhp.worksandhousing.gov.ng/ to ensure that those interested are not inhibited by any artificial obstacle. Allocations will be made on the basis of those who applied and paid on a first-come-first-served basis.
“While we welcome those who can afford to pay outright, it is not a condition for eligibility, and we have offered flexible payment options like mortgages and rent to own, which we encourage applicants to pursue,” he said.
The housing units unveiled include 48 units of two-bedroom bungalow; 24 units of three-bedroom bungalow and 4 units of 1-bedroom bungalow.
