The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has organised a one-day training for 124 independent monitors for the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).
Speaking while flagging off the training in Damaturu on Thursday, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, said the monitors would oversee various intervention programmes of the federal government at the community level in the state.

Established by the Buhari-led administration, the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) targets empowering unemployed Nigerians and uplifting the lives of poor and vulnerable citizens in the country.
She said the training was aimed at preparing the monitors to discharge their responsibilities, and ensuring that cardinal objectives of these programmes are achieved.
“The independent monitors would be assigned to monitor the programmes in their locality, such as schools, health posts and market clusters”
