Plans are currently on to review upward the salary structure of National Identity Management Commission, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has said.
Pantami disclosed this on Monday when he paid an official visit to NIMC headquarters in Abuja.
He said NIMC is a very important agency and its current salary structure would not encourage best brains to stay and work there.
The minister reiterated his directive to the commission to, from next month increase the monthly enrolment of Nigerians to 2.5million from 500,000.
He said the government would do everything possible to get all Nigerians enrolled in the NIN database.
Earlier, NIMC Director-General, Aliyu Aziz, said the commission’s staff had put in a lot of efforts and sacrifices over the years to deliver the identity vision even in the midst of the numerous challenges.
