The federal government is to assist Katsina State government in reviving ailing industries in the state for the benefit of the citizenry.
The state Commissioner of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Alhaji Mukhtar Abdulkadir, disclosed this on Tuesday shortly after signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the state and Contec Global Agro Ltd for the operation and management of NeemPro Katsina Ltd, a neem seeds processing company.

“The federal government has requested for a list of our ailing industries for possible intervention and we have given them the list, and the state government is working closely with the federal government to see the kind of intervention that would come in,” he said.
Alhaji Abdulkadir said the state government would not fold its arms to allow the industries to continue to lay fallow while they could be utilised to generate employment for the teeming population, and boost the internally generated revenue.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Contec Global Agro Limited, Mr Thomas Chakunkal, said the neem seeds processing plant would generate thousands of job opportunities as people would be engaged all over the state and the entire regions to supply the neem seeds for the firm.
