The Minister of Science Technology and Innovation, Senator Adeleke Mamora, has said there are plans to flag off the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Television this December for infotainment, and informatics and to create STI culture in Nigeria.

The minister said this in Abuja yesterday during an interactive session with reporters on the achievements of the ministry in the period under review.

“The STI Television will soon come on stream and like any other media, it will provide education, information, and entertainment. It will be the avenue to tell our story in our way,” he said.

Mamora commended President Muhammadu Buhari for committing 0.5% of Nigeria’s GDP to R&D, which he said is an improvement from previous years.

The minister also said as a result of the funding constraints, the ministry had prioritised dropping wastage and avoiding duplication.

He added that the ministry also achieved registration and release of new varieties of crops and livestock breeds for private and public research institutions in 2022 and as well boosted the National Energy Policy and Energy Master Plan.
