FG to engage governors on right-of-way to hasten power projects

The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, says the Federal Government is working with state governors to address the problem of right-of-way which, according to him, is delaying power projects’ execution.

He said this in Abuja Tuesday while receiving the leadership of Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

He said the government might engage the governors through their forum to address the problem for timely completion of power projects.

He said the government was taking inventory of all the right-of-way challenges nationwide to engage state governors.

He commended Eko DisCo for being the best in terms of financial performance and urged others to emulate it.

He, however, challenged Eko Disco to heighten customer care and boost confidence.

The minister said currently, there were over 100 ongoing projects by the Transmission Company of Nigeria that would help in addressing power theft and ensure grid stability.

Chairman, Eko DisCo, Dere Otubu, said they visited to congratulate the minister and encourage him to do more for improved power supply in Nigeria.

He solicited the minister’s support for increased power capacity for the company.
