The federal government is intensifying efforts to complete a 330 kilovolts (kV) power transmission substation in Katsina and another in Kano along with the transmission line in one year to improve power supply in both states.

The Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engr. Sule Abdulaziz, disclosed this while inspecting the 330/132/33kV Katsina substation project and the other in Kano, at the instance of the Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, at the weekend.

Speaking at the Katsina substation, Abdulaziz said the transformers and structures are in place as the Katsina substation which will gulp N4bn, will improve bulk power supply to Daura, Dutsinma, Kankara and Malumfashi substations in the state.

“We are willing, and we want to make sure we finish this substation within the one year which this administration has. We are going to invite Mr President to commission this place,” said Abdulaziz.

The TCN head said the transmission line for the substation is from Kano and was earlier affected by right of way issues.

At the 330/132/33kV Rimin Zakara in Kano State, the MD said: “This is the second 330kV substation in Kano. This substation is almost 80 per cent completed. And we are just waiting to bring the transmission line that will bring power to this place. That is why the Minister of Power, Engineer Abubakar D. Aliyu, asked me to come for this visit.”
