The multi million naira 3,000 capacity Federal Government Correctional Center in Kano is to be commissioned this year.
The minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola who inspected the project on Saturday said one is being built in each of the 6 geopolitical zones of the country.

“This is a model of what we have nationwide. The most advance in terms of phase and work, I’m quite impress with what I see here.
“It will house different types of categories of inmates, from medium to maximum security convicts, it is quite promising custodial center” he said
In his remarks, Controller General of Correctional Service, Ahmed Jaafaru said inmates at the former center in Kurmawa are to be moved to the center when completed.
Already, the Kurmawa center is being converted to a juvenile center.
“All facilities needed are being provided like. 50 bed capacity hospital, skills acquisitions and learning centers, as well as worship centers” he added.
