FG to commence MDAs’ websites ranking

The Federal government is to kick start the ranking of the websites of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in a scorecard ranking being introduced as a peer review mechanism to ensure that information on MDAs are readily available and disseminated accordingly to the public.

The Acting Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) Mr. Dasuki Arabi, stated this recently in Abuja during the inauguration of the Inter-Ministerial Task Team on the ranking of the MDAs websites.
Daily Trust reports that 70 selected MDAs have been drawn for raking in the pilot scheme.
Mr. Arabi said that the emergence of the scorecard is to ensure that MDAs’ websites comply with standard and are up to date, reviewed when changes occur.
“It will also ensure that MDAs are available to attend to public complaints. This will promote openness and transparency in the delivery of public goods and services. The websites scoring was developed by BPSR in collaboration with Right to Know (R2K) and has been approved by the Federal Government in order to boost operationalization of the Executive Order (001) on Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria,” he said.
According to him the steering committee is made up of representatives from relevant MDAs including Office of Head of Service, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency, Federal Ministry of Justice, SERVICOM, stakeholders from the private, public sector and Non-Governmental Agencies among others.
The steering committee has also been divided into sub-committees to ensure successful execution of the project.
Also, a 15-member high level Jury sub- committee was also inaugurated by the Acting DG of BPSR with the sub-committee members being experts of proven character drawn from private, public and non-Governmental Agencies and are expected to give unbiased ranking on the performance of the MDAs.
