FG to boost local manufacture of drugs, other pharmaceutical products’

The federal government is working hard for the country to commence local manufacturing of pharmaceutical products soon, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Kachollom Daju, has said.

Daju stated this in Abuja during an ‘industry evening of honours’ organised for her, following the high-level international recognition conferred on her by the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, where she bagged an honorary fellowship of the institution.

She said the ministry was working together with all stakeholders in the health sector to provide quality services, universal health coverage   and unlocking the value chain to ensure local manufacturing of things the country needs.

The Secretary General of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacy, Prof. Ibrahim Adekunle Oreagba, said the honour bestowed on Daju is usually given to heads of states of member countries in the sub-region.

Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa, said Daju has been very diligent, hardworking, and maintains a high level of transparency and fairness in her work as permanent secretary of the ministry.

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fidson Healthcare Plc., Dr Fidelis Anyebae, who was also the chairman of the event, urged the perm sec. to follow up on the pharma sector executive order, adding that her recognition means there is still more work to be done for the people.
